Oltukai Primary School
Oltukai Primary School is in Oltukai Village on the edge of Manyara Ranch Conservancy, which is situated between Tarangire and Lake Manyara National Parks in northern Tanzania.
The school is a vital center of learning for children from the surrounding Maasai pastoral community who live alongside the area’s wildlife.
Water Project
Recent progress has already been made with our foundation family’s support in installing guttering and nineteen 5,000-litre rainwater storage tanks, which are shared among the school, teachers’ housing, the village office, and the local dispensary. This was their first request for help, and it has improved access to clean water for the whole village, for which they were very appreciative.

Further Renovations Needed
However, the school’s nine classrooms themselves remain in urgent need of renovation. The floors are cracked, pitted and dusty, the windows and doors are broken, and the lack of paint leaves these learning spaces dark and uninviting. The kitchen building is also crumbling and needs to be completely redone.
This project aims to repair and level all the classroom floors, replace the windows and doors with secure, durable fittings, repaint all classrooms and install a new sanitary kitchen to create a brighter, safer, and healthier environment for the students and teachers at this school.
These renovations will build on the water infrastructure already in place, ensuring that the school offers not just access to water but also a safe, welcoming environment for its 627 pupils.
Then, after this, we plan to assist the school in creating two new classrooms to expand its capacity, as the current student-to-classroom ratio is 69 children per classroom on average.
